Abstract
A simple and mostly heuristic theory is proposed for the spin ordering in dilute magnetic alloys. It explores the idea of Marshall on the effective-field distribution and makes a self-consistent postulate in analogy with the Weiss molecular-field theory. The theory is applied to calculate the specific heat with or without external field and the susceptibility of the alloys. Keywords
