Abstract
The scattering of D-D neutrons by lead has been investigated with a cloud chamber. The energy distribution of the inelastically scattered neutrons has been determined from 0.6 to 2.0 Mev, and it has been found that the distribution does not agree with the theoretical predictions of Weisskopf, and of Weisskopf and Ewing. The cross section for inelastic scattering has been determined, and is 1.31±0.53× . It has been shown that elastic scattering is not spherically symmetric, and is very small for angles greater than about 50°.
