Abstract
Cultures of taro, Colocasia esculenta var antiquorum (L.) Schott, established from shoot tip explants were used to select for salt tolerance. Presently, cultures are being maintained and produce plantlets in 10–70 per cent artificial seawater. The results indicate that in vitro selection techniques for salinity tolerance may prove useful in the development of salt tolerant taro cultivars. Keywords
