Abstract
At present there is no central source describing the various child‐service professions or the institutions that offer training in them. Like professional psychology in general, the child‐related careers continue to develop their identities and training standards in the face of rapidly growing knowledge and changing social values. Both the Society of Pediatric Psychology and the Section on Clinical Child Psychology (Section One, Division 12, American Psychological Association) are exploring possibilities of a national training conference, where we might consolidate our perspectives on evolving trends, needs, and goals. For now, the person who is interested in entering one of the fields involving psychological work with children must continue to look into each of the fields pretty much on his or her own. This article is intended as one starting place; it provides a minimal listing of graduate programs in clinical child psychology as well as descriptions of directories of Internship Programs in Clinical Psychology, Practicum Training Resources in Clinical Child Psychology, Practicum and Internship Training Resources in Pediatric Psychology, Training Programs in The Child Care Professions, and School Psychology Training Programs.
