Abstract
Measurements were made of the attenuation of sound in compacted sediments in water using an ultrasonic wave train at frequencies in the megacycle range. Artificial sediments of glass spheres as well as marine sands have been tested and the variation of absorption with frequency, mean grain size, and concentration are illustrated. Keywords
