Abstract
Summary: A retrospective study, including a control group, demonstrated that nalorphine may have a detrimental effect on fetal acid‐base and blood gas status. Delivery of the head was slower in patients given analgesic drugs in labour. Pethidine apparently diminished transplacental oxygen transfer, but this effect was not sufficiently severe to influence acid‐base status. Keywords
