Abstract
The concept of integrative levels describes the evolution of the inanimate, animate and social worlds. The progress is due to forces which differ at each level. To interrelate levels, each level must be understood. The concept stresses material interrelationships of parts and whole and the uniqueness of each integrative level. It puts the known facts of a problem into proper perspective by revealing the decisive element. It emphasizes the study of matter at the point of transition from one level of organization to the next.
