Evidence for aππisoscalar resonance degenerate with thef′produced inp¯Nannihilations at rest

Abstract

Evidence for a new resonance

f_{2}^{'} \to π π

produced in

\bar{p} N \to π f_{2}^{'}

at rest is presented. The resonance parameters are

M = 1527 \pm 5

MeV,

Γ = 101 \pm 13

MeV, which are consistent with those of the

f^{'}

. The absence of

f^{'}

production in

\bar{p} N \to π f^{'} (\to \bar{K} K)

rules out the hypothesis that the

f_{2}^{'}

is the same as the

f^{'}

.

J = 0

is cautiously suggested for the

f_{2}^{'}

.
