A CHEMICAL-HISTOCHEMICAL EVALUATION OF ACID PHOSPHATASE ACTIVITY IN HUMAN SKIN

Abstract
A combined chemical-histochemical evaluation of the time factor in histochemical staining for acid phosphatase was undertaken. Free phosphate continued to increase in a linear fashion after incubation up to 12 hours. Therefore, longer incubation times, as well as shorter, must be used to demonstrate histochemically sites of varied phosphatase activity. However, the final evaluation must take artefacts, especially diffusion, into account.
