Abstract
Rats fed 34% fat show hyperglycemia, increased lipid content in liver and hypertrophy of liver and kidneys. Acetoacetate production by liver slices and its utilization by kidney slices is increased but this increased rate of acetoacetate utilization decreases considerably after prolonged feeding, thus indicating the deleterious effects of high fat feeding for longer period. High fat diet augments hypothyroidism and suppresses accelerated metabolism induced by hyperthyroidis.m. Feeding of hydrolyzed glucose cycloacetoacetate along with high fat diet has, however, been found to suppress the excess formation of acetoacetate and to increase its utilization. Keywords
