Abstract
The level of protection from Melampsora larici-populina Klebahn infection on Populus nigra L. cv. ‘Sempervirens’ and Populus euramericana (Dode) Guinier cv. ‘1–78’ grown from cuttings for one season was assessed for eight fungicides. Application began when uredia were first observed and subsequent applications were made at approximately 14-day intervals. The fungicides ‘Bas 3172F’ (0.15%), ‘Bas 3170F’ (0.15%), and ‘Plantvax’ (0.2%) gave effective control, but ‘Cela W524’ (0.075%), ‘Bas 3192F’ (0.15%), ‘Dithane M-45’ (0.17%), ‘Dithane Z-78’ (0.17%), and soil-applied ‘Plantvax’ (2 g/10 m2) were less effective. Keywords
