Abstract
The current state of knowledge of the initiation, propagation and termination reactions of protein synthesis in Escherichia coli are reviewed in this Ayerst Award Lecture 1976. Particular emphasis is placed on the characterization of protein factors and the use of native (as opposed to artificial) templates in order to elucidate the nature of initiation and termination sequences on mRNA.This publication has 10 references indexed in Scilit:
