HEREDITARY ONYCHO-OSTEO-ARTHRODYSPLASIA

Abstract
The nail-platella syndrome is only part of a wider syndrome which effects primarily the nails, knees, elbows and pelvis. The term, hereditary onycho-oesteo-arthrodysplasia was suggested for this syndrome. A patient showing changes in all 4 areas of interest is described. A normal chromosome count and appearance were found, as expected, in a disease caused by a simple autosomal transmission. This syndrome now joins the large number of conditions in which a radiologist can make a diagnosis from a roentgenogram of the hand by noting the dysplastic finger nails.
