Abstract
The equations of motion for a quantized electromagnetic field subject to the influence of a classical electron of arbitrarily prescribed velocity are solved by a simple method involving the corresponding difference equations. The solution yields some results which are contrary to those of an earlier theory. An expression for the transition probabilities between a high-energy state and neighboring states of the field inside a resonant cavity is obtained. Keywords
