Abstract
Two-dimensional, moist convection is modelled with a low-order, spectral model. Heating effects of condensation are taken into account and in particular the vertical asymmetry of the heating field is considered. Due to the interaction between the flow field and the condensational heating, hysteretic effects arise. The sensitivity of the model results to uncertain parameters like the dissipation is investigated. For an atmospherically realistic range of parameter values, it is found that the hysteretic behaviour is a robust model property. DOI: 10.1111/j.1600-0870.1986.tb00472.xKeywords
