Abstract
Becchi-Rouet-Stora invariance is used to second quantize the free superstring covariantly in the Neveu-Schwarz-Ramond formalism. The massless sector is shown to be the gauge-fixed supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory. A method to find a gauge-covariant local formulation is also discussed. Keywords
