Capillary Tube Scanning Applied to In Vitro Mouse Marrow Granulocyte Growth

Abstract
A technique was described For electronic monitoring and counting of mouse marrow granulocyte colonies in capillary tubes. Capillary tube scanning allowed daily monitoring of replicate samples, and provided kinetic data not shown by examination of standard semisolid cultures in petri dishes. Cloning particles greater than 20µ, could be detectedj because of this, counting efficiencies were 10-100 times higher than were cloning efficiencies in conventional petri dishes. The technique demonstrated growth as early as day 1 that was consistent in pattern to dose of cells inoculated.
