Abstract
By restricting the flash photolysis of an I2+ CO2 mixture with light filters it was established by absorption spectroscopy that excited atoms are produced by photolysis in the banded region of the B3Πou+–X1Σ+ g system. The ratio of the concentrations of excited atoms produced in the banded and continuous regions were in close agreement with a calculation based on the previously derived quantum-yield/wavelength function.
