Abstract
Experiment and theory are presented to show that pulse excitation of cylindrical plasma produces decaying ringing at the electron-cyclotron frequency and at any upper hybrid frequency for which the electron-concentration gradient vanishes. In the absence of a dc magnetic field, the ringing occurs at the maximum plasma frequency. Keywords
