Abstract
Introduction IN THE PRECEDING paper, results were presented indicating that criteria resembling those developed by Wynne and Singer9,10and Singer and Wynne7,8for distinguishing the parents of schizophrenics from control parents on projective tests could be objectified, scored reliably, and applied to the briefer Object Sorting test. The methodology and scoring system have been described in the previous paper. The results also showed that strikingly more patient-parents received high Object Sorting test scores than normal control parents when subjects were treated either individually or as couples. These findings pose at least two basic questions: (1) What is the significance of the Object Sorting test scoring system in terms of the pathology it reflects in the parents of schizophrenic patients and (2) what is the impact of such parental pathology on their children?
