Abstract
Onychomycosis of the Right Thumbnail, Due to Microsporum Lanosum. Dermatophytosis of the Feet with Onychomycosis. (Causative Organism Undetermined, Probably Trichophyton Rubrum). Presented by Dr. Adrian Brodey. This patient, a veterinarian, is a white male, aged 46, who was first seen on March 18, 1963. The patient related that he had had a deformity of the right thumbnail for the past two months which he believed followed an injury from pulling paper staples. He had also had an eruption of the feet with involvement of the toenails for an indeterminate period. Past history disclosed that the patient was diabetic, well controlled on insulin therapy. In early February, 1963, he had treated a dog with a widespread fungus infection due to Microsporum lanosum, confirmed by mycologic culture.
