Abstract
A diagnosis of diabetes mellitus and hyperthyroidism was established in 1947 in a 48-yr.-old white woman. In Dec, 1951, increasing weakness, anorexia and wt. loss were interpreted as symptoms of hyperthyroidism because of tachycardia, enlarged thyroid and radioactive iodine uptake of 60%. Despite a therapeutic dose of I131, the above symptoms became steadily aggravated and the patient was hospitalized in February 1952. Marked hypotension and pigmentation were noted and electrolyte studies confirmed the diagnosis of Addison''s disease. Treatment with desoxycorti-costerone acetate and sodium chloride brought about prompt and sustained improvement. Keywords
