Abstract
Extracts of Lithospermum officinale, the common gromwell, are capable of in vitro and in vivo inhibition of gonadotrophic hormones of the pituitary and chorion, thyrotropic hormone as well as pregnant mare serum and prolactin. The active principle of Lithospermum inactivates these hormones after their secretion from the pituitary gland without interacting with the anterior lobe itself. Keywords
