Abstract
Adults and larvae of the tiger beetles, Cicindela haemorrhagica and C. pusilla imperfecta are considered of minor importance as predators on the alkali bee, Nomia melanderi. The beetles were unable to subdue an active bee and the larvae could not hold and kill European earwigs and sowbugs that were more than half grown. Early spring sprays that just wet the soil surface and contained either 0.25 lb. actual emulsifiable parathion or 0.5 lb. actual emulsifiable heptachlor/100 gal. killed 100% of the tiger beetle larvae.
