The genus Zalerion is reconstituted to include Z. maritima (Linder) comb. nov. and a new species from salt lakes, Z. varia. Z. nepura Moore & Meyers, Z. eistla Moore & Meyers, Z. xylestrix Moore & Meyers, Z. raptor Moore & Meyers, and Helicoma salinum Linder are placed into synonomy with Z. maritima.
