Reaction-product velocity measurements for theO16+O16andC12+Ne20systems

Abstract
The average Doppler shifts of characteristic γ rays from nuclei produced in the O16 + O16 and C12 + Ne20 reactions have been measured. Recoil velocities deduced from these data are shown to be sensitive to the heavy-ion reaction mechanism. Possible signatures of fusion-evaporation, direct-transfer or inelastic scattering, deep inelastic, and incomplete fusion processes are discussed.
