Abstract
Slight amounts of sebacic and suberic acids were recovered from the urine of doga fed for several days on a mixed diet plus 4-5 g./kg/ day of fats (80% coconut fat and 20% rendered butter). Only caprylic, pelargonic and capric acids led to excretion of dicarboxylic acids in feeding expts. with fatty acid salts of 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 14, 16 and 18 C-atoms. The methyl and ethyl esters behaved similarly. Sebacic and other dicarboxylic acids when fed even in small amounts were in large part excreted unchanged, in part [beta]-oxidized. The results were discussed as to extent and significance of [omega]-oxidation in fat metabolism. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
