Abstract
The potential hazards of the high level waste produced by one year of all nuclear power in the U. S. are calculated as a function of time for direct gamma radiation, inhalation, and ingestion, and scales are given for consequences of the worst credible handling. The probability for buried waste to be released into the environment by several pathways is estimated, and several factors of related interest are discussed. Keywords
