Human resource management in turbulent times: HRM in the Czech Republic

Abstract
In a previous article in this journal (Brewster, 1992a) it was argued that human resource management will be a key feature of developments in Central and Eastern Europe; that Czechoslovakia (as it then was) was the most likely of the independent ex-Communist countries to make the transition successfully;1and that the area would repay close monitoring over the next few years. Since 1993 a major research programme has examined human resource management policies and practices in the Czech Republic. Using that data source this paper analyses the development of HRM in that country.
