Abstract
A simple method is presented that takes into account the random fluctuations exhibited by journal citation measures from year to year. One of the advantages of this method is that it gives us a better view of the ranking of journals (their "pecking order"), when this is based on the number of received citations or on the impact factor of the journal in a given year. Keywords
