Abstract
A patient with postoperative bleeding was treated with epsilon aminocaproic acid (EACA). Subsequent coagulation studies supported the diagnosis of intravascular coagulation and the patient subsequently developed renal failure due to glomerular thromboses. Caution is urged in the administration of EACA to patients unless primary fibrinolysis is established or the patient concomitantly receives heparin. Keywords
