Abstract
The rhombohedral-rhombohedral transition in PbZrxTi1-xO3 is found to be of first order. Calculations are given of the tilt angle of the oxygen octahedra about [111] together with the octahedron strain. Coupling between these two quantities is found to account for the nature of the phase transition. In addition, an explanation of the pyroelectric behaviour is given. Keywords
