Abstract
Introduction: Frank Howard Lahey In June, 1920, having completed my internship, I returned to Dartmouth College, from which I had graduated in 1917, to attend the third year reunion of my class. My last two years at Dartmouth were spent in the Dartmouth Medical School. While there I often heard of a prominent young Boston surgeon named Lahey. At our class reunion my friend, Dr. John Bowler, who later became Director of the Hitchcock Clinic and Professor of Surgery and Dean of the Dartmouth Medical School, told me that the Boston surgeon, Frank Howard Lahey, was considered one of the great surgeons in the Boston area, and that he also had attained a national reputation as a surgeon and as a teacher of surgery.
