Abstract
In cats removal of the thoracolumbar sympathetic chains did not prevent the usual rise in metabolism after thyroxin, thus failing to sustain the theory of Abderhalden and Wertheimer that thyroxin raises metabolism indirectly by stimulating the sympathetic nervous system.
