Abstract
Resonant scattering of neutrons by iridium has been studied with samples of three different thicknesses. The scattering cross section for the 5.36-eV, 30-eV, and 51.3-eV resonances of 191Ir was measured. These measurements combined with the published transmission data and the fact that the target nucleus has a spin of 3/2 give the spins of these resonances. The 5.36-eV resonance is found to have a spin of 2, while each of the other two resonances has a spin of 1.Keywords
