Study of thedfHybridization in Actinide Metals and Alloys

Abstract
A model considering a 5f band, a d band, and a variable df hybridization is developed here to explain the magnetism of actinide metals or impurities in transition metals. The model justifies and improves the description of magnetism in the series of actinide metals, compared to the previous model of a 5f and a d virtual bound state. The origin and a rough estimation of the df hybridization are also discussed for actinides in transition-metal-based alloys or in compounds.
