Abstract
A high index of suspicion for cardiac injuries in car accidents must exist following nonpenetrating trauma to the chest wall. People should be encouraged to wear seat belts. The shoulder-harness seat belt may prove to be more beneficial in the future. The improved design of steering wheels and steering columns seems essential. This is probably the second report of successful surgical repair of rupture of the heart following nonpenetrating trauma to the chest wall. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
