Abstract
In-wintering of sheep, uncommon in Britain, is seen as a possible means of increasing profitability on lowland farms and on the more accessible hill farms. Experience at Cockle Park gained since 1961/62 is summarized and favourable aspects are listed. Gross margins of £30 per acre, or even more, are likely to be achieved—double the expectation from the normal stocking of two ewes per forage acre. The need for extended investigation is stressed. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
