New developments in field gamma-ray spectrometry

Abstract
Specific gamma-ray spectrometric procedures have been developed for counting samples in the field. The analysis of spectra has been streamlined by the use of an on-line portable programmable calculator, making real-time interactive data analysis possible for both Ge(Li) and NaI(Tl) spectra. The results of a calibration of a 130 cm/sup 3/ closed-end coaxial Ge(Li) detector are given for sources distributed in a soil-half space and in various sample geometries.
