Abstract
To investigate the possibility that the density homogeneity among Escherichia coli DNA molecules might reflect a high degree of homogeneity with respect to base composition, the relationship between bouyant density in cesium chloride solution and base composition of DNA from a variety of bacterial species was investigated. A linear relationship was found between the mean bouyant density at 25[degree]C and the mean molar fraction of the guanine-cytosine content for 9 bacterial species. Keywords
