Abstract
The results of studies using antimetabolites which have been reported by others to block the synthesis of nucleic acids and proteins, indicated that the deoxyribonucleic acid required for the synthesis of virulence factors was preformed in adequate quantities at 5C. However, synthesis de novo of ribonucleic acid at 37 C was required for the synthesis of proteins (virulence antigens) which were apparently needed for the expression of maximal virulence by Pasteurella pestis. Keywords
