Abstract
Important axial magnetic fields can grow up through the dynamo effect in laser-matter interactions. The growth rate of these fields is calculated for an isothermal plasma. Faraday rotation on the backscattered emission shows that axial fields in the megagauss range are present in a laser-produced plasma. Keywords
