Some laboratory measurements of permeability of Bothkennar clay in relation to soil fabric

Abstract
Laboratory measurements of the vertical and horizontal permeability of samples of Bothkennar clay have been made in controlled flow tests and values have been estimated from interpretation of consolidation tests. The permeability anisotropy that has been observed can be linked with different clay facies that have been identified in parallel engineering geological studies. La mesure de la perméabilité verticale et horizontale d'échantillons d'argile de Bothkennar a été faite dans des essais d'écoulement d'eau contrôlés et des valeurs ont été estimées à partir de l'interprétation d'essais de consolidation. L'aniso-tropie de la perméabilité qui a été observée peut être reliée avec différents faciès argileux qui ont été identifiés dans des études de géologie appliquée menées en parallèle.
