Abstract
This paper presents an experimental study of the mean flow characteristics of hydraulic jumps formed in sloping rectangular channels with slopes of 2-25%. The supercritical Froude number was the range of 5 to approx 8. It was found that the mean velocity profiles could be analyzed using the theoretical model of plane turbulent wall jets. It was also found that the bed shear stresses are comparatively larger than in the corresponding level channel jumps. Keywords
