Abstract
Radial-velocity measurements are presented for both components of the HD 128220 system, the only double-lined binary with a published orbit which has as one of its members a subdwarf O star. The subdwarf mass is found to be a substantial revision of the previously published value of 4.3 solar masses. The mass of the G-giant primary, the distance to the system, and the radii and luminosities of the components (all with sin i dependences) are derived. The subdwarf characteristics are in good agreement with evolutionary calculations for a post-AGB star with a present mass of 0.55 solar mass. The evolutionary history of the system is discussed in light of the results. Keywords
