Urban Planning and Health Services: Opportunities for Cooperation

Abstract
The crisis in medical care has led to many proposals for change in the health service system and to a variety of health planning structures. The work of health planners parallels that of urban planners in a number of ways; yet there has been little contact between these two fields. A survey of published health plans indicates that few have moved very far toward proposing future health system alternatives and that urban planning information and methods can contribute directly to the development of such proposals.
