Abstract
It has been known for a long time that certain spectral lines may be enhanced in a light source due to selective excitation through collisions with carrier-gas atoms. One possible process is a charge-transfer reaction, which may have a high cross section at energy resonance. In connection with new energy-level studies of Sc II, Ti II and Fe II the authors have been able to study this intensity enhancement systematically. The high level density in Fe II made it possible to look at the variation of the relative cross section with the energy discrepancy, Delta E, in the reaction Fe+Ne+ to Fe+*+Ne+ Delta E.Keywords
