Abstract
While the freedom enjoyed by the press is more than might be expected in an underdeveloped country, its foundations are extremely tenuous. Too often the newspapers abdicate their responsibility to inform and educate, preferring only to influence. Their status may suffer as a result of the approaching presidential elections.Keywords
