Abstract
The dependence of the high-temperature vibrational entropy Delta S of equiatomic one-dimensional chains on the short-range order parameter r is obtained analytically. It is found that Delta S/Nk depends linearly on (1-r) as found in numerical simulation, in contrast to the non-linear dependence on r predicted by the Einstein approximation. Keywords
