Abstract
The ultrasonic attenuation curves in 4-46.5 MHz range for two kinds of AuCd alloys (47.5 at% Cd and 50 at% Cd) through martensitic transformation are different in shape. An marked peak is observed only in 50 at% Cd alloy. This disagreement and the different behaviour of frequency dependence of attenuation for these two alloys are explained taking account of that either interface boundary damping or fluctuation damping plays an important role as a consequence of the different range of measured frequency. The behaviour of damping related to pre-martensitic transition was studied in the KHz as well as MHz rangeKeywords
